Hi, I'm Dr Sam Cockle, the founder of Balanced Health & Wellbeing. I help women transform their weight loss journey from one of strict deprivation to one that is compassionate, empowered, and sustainable. I use methods grounded in psychology, supporting you to explore what's been missing before, and do things differently.
If you want to do any or all of these things:
I can help you make positive, compassionate changes.
My extensive training as a Chartered Psychologist and HCPC Registered Health Psychologist means I can ensure that you receive advice grounded in scientific understanding and evidence-based methodologies. I lead with expertise, providing you with the confidence that your health goals are in capable hands.
I'll guide you towards achieving your health and wellbeing goals in a way that suits you and fits in with your life.
No fads, crash diets or quick fixes.
This is realistic, lasting change that doesn't ask for perfection or for you to give up things you love. It's an approach that recognises that life is often busy and rarely straightforward. It's designed to take the pressure off and focuses on enjoying life too!
A lot of us probably know there are things we could do to be healthier day-to-day, and what those things are (Eat more veg? Exercise more? Sleep more?). The bigger challenge is usually how we go about making these changes in a way we can stick to. Often change can feel like a chore, rather than something positive we're doing for ourselves.
I focus on how we can make changes that are practical and realistic, fitting in with our lives, and that we can maintain in the longer-term. This includes how we can re-frame our mindset to take some of the struggle or chore out of it and act with more self-compassion.
Different aspects of our health and wellbeing influence each other. E.g. what we eat and how much we exercise are both impacted by, and can impact upon, how well we sleep. Our physical health can impact our mental health, and our mental health can impact our physical health.
We often pay attention to these sorts of things separately, which can mean missed opportunities or that the effort we're putting in could be better focused.
I'll help you consider the bigger picture and together we'll seek to understand the different aspects that could influence your progress.
I believe that everyone is unique and deserves a personalised service.
I work closely with each client to develop a plan that suits their individual needs, goals, and preferences. And there's even a choice of location, including the option to "walk and talk" for those in my area.
I use evidence-based practices and regularly review progress to ensure my clients are getting the most effective service possible.
I understand that seeking help can be a difficult and vulnerable experience. That's why I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can feel comfortable. I am a compassionate professional who is dedicated to helping clients achieve their goals.
